MICHAEL
THOMSON

Founder, Tyneside Software.
Building jobs in the North East.
Tech & management, put to use.

My main goal is simple: create as many real jobs as possible — and put serious product engineering and leadership experience behind that. Tyneside Software is the vehicle. The work can start with cleaning and charity; it expands wherever we can make employment work.

Professional experience

A career building and scaling software companies — now aimed at a jobs engine on Tyneside.

Cloud Connect Software

CTO & Co-Founder. Invoice and document data capture at scale — 50k+ invoices/year customers. ~£600k ARR with strong growth. Partner of Tyneside Software (separate company) — the main money-earner today and the engine that funds this vision (see below).

CloudTrade → exit

Helped scale CloudTrade through to a £25.8m acquisition. Hands-on product and engineering leadership in document automation and commercial delivery.

Advanced

Ex-Head of Engineering — running engineering organisations, delivery discipline, and technical direction at scale.

Background

Born Seaham, 1992. Neurodivergent founder. Long-term plan: capability and generational opportunity in the North East — not another pure “exit story”.

Ambition for Tyneside Software

Jobs are the objective — good ones if we can manage it. High-quality CVs for the people who work with us are a core priority.

A place to think differently

Through my own experience — and my children’s — I have some insight into the differing needs of neurodivergent people. We don’t discriminate: everyone is welcome. We are creating a space where we can be ourselves and think differently.

Start: a self-sustaining ecosystem

Initial plans centre on a self-sustaining loop around charity cleaning and field-service software: free tools for cleaners, paid work through welcome-home cleans, websites and junior roles funded by real commercial work (jobs engine).

Train on the job

We try to give work to people just entering the workforce, or who may have no existing skills yet — training on the job and building practical experience they can carry for life.

Any problem, great or small

Our only limit is how much work we can achieve. We will apply ourselves to any problem great and small. We start with passions — data and logistics — and expand wherever the work takes us.

Sky is the limit

With extensive experience scaling software teams and delivering high-quality products, and a team with determination and desire to succeed — the sky is really the limit.

Who we especially want to work with

People and organisations with synergies around our existing strengths:

  • Data capture — high-volume extraction from documents and invoices
  • Document automation — workflows that turn paper/PDF into systems of record
  • Field services / logistics — scheduling, routing, work management for teams on the road

Partner, customer, or someone looking for a path into tech — WhatsApp me (or email — slower).

Cloud Connect Software

Partner of Tyneside Software — separate legal company. Main money-earner today. Actively funds the Tyneside vision: jobs, training, charity.

What Cloud Connect does

Helps organisations that need to pull data from 50,000+ invoices a year (and similar document volumes). That is where commercial viability sits — high volume, messy documents, real accuracy requirements.

Competes hard on flexibility and accuracy — and wins in the space that matters.

Leads and introductions welcome. A stronger Cloud Connect means more capacity to fund Tyneside’s jobs and charity work.
